Mostly glossy mix of steel brown, reddish chocolate, and darker olive brown. There are several shallow planchet flakes at the back of the head that obliterate ON in CONNEC and an obvious fissure on the rim at AC in AUCTORI. Patches of shallow verdigris are present on the obverse while the reverse is smooth and nearly flawless. Later die state with a strong die break through the B in LIB with a lighter radial die crack below. The date is bold and the overdate feature is clear. Nearly centered on the planchet. The attribution was neatly added in white ink in the field before the chin. Weight 127.9 grains.
Ex Richard Picker-Robert M. Martin (includes the Martin collection envelope).
