Frosty chocolate brown and steel. Satiny mint luster shows in the fields and protected areas and you could easily justify an About Uncirculated grade for this piece (it was called “Choice About Uncirculated” and “Among the Finest Known” in the 1992 Picker sale). The surfaces are mostly smooth but the portrait and seated figure are covered with small planchet fissures. No verdigris or contact marks. Struck slightly off center to K-7 but the date and legends are complete and bold. Weight 137.6 grains.
