Sharpness EF40 with a few small patches of shallow greenish verdigris on both sides, mostly above the head on the obverse and at the top of the staff on the reverse. The surfaces are rather glossy and the surfaces look smooth to the unaided eye but a glass reveals microscopic roughness on all but the highpoints. The lower part of the obverse and opposing upper part of the reverse were softly struck leaving the usual collection of tiny planchet chips in those areas. The date is tight to the edge but it is complete and strong as are the legends. The die repair to the bottom of the B in LIB is obvious. Superior to the Taylor and Perkins examples of the variety. Weight 124.0 grains.
