The Miller-Ryder-Boyd M.33.13-Z.1
Slightly sharper but lightly cleaned and nicely retoned glossy medium brown and light chocolate. There are traces of very faded red in protected areas on the reverse; otherwise there would be no reason to suspect the coin had ever been cleaned. Smooth and attractive with just trivial planchet striations in the centers. A rim nick over Britannia’s hair bun is the only notable sign of contact. Struck slightly off center to K-10 leaving the bottom of the date off the planchet; otherwise the date and legends are strong. Intermediate die state with minor die cracks at TO in AUCTORI. A very nice example of this rare variety, and it comes with a superb provenance. In the lower half of the condition census for the variety. Weight 129.9 grains.
