A nicely detailed piece with light wear on the highpoints of the devices but it has some significant defects. There is an attempted puncture near the rim below the left end of the truncation, a stray planchet-cutter impression near the rim on both sides (as struck), and a patch of corrosion with green verdigris at the top of the reverse. Otherwise the surfaces are mostly smooth and the toning is an attractive glossy light brown with a few splashes of darker olive. Later die state with the second 8 in the date very weak. Weight 111.6 grains.
