Breen Plate Coin
Glossy tan and light brown with medium chocolate brown toning in protected areas. Mint frost shows in the protected areas and this piece has excellent eye appeal. There are microscopic planchet chips in the centers and a few elsewhere on both sides. A thin fissure between the A & U in AUCTORI and a smaller one below the E in CONNEC can help identify this piece. Minor swelling shows in the fields on both sides. This is the plate coin for the CONNFC with colons type in Walter Breen’s Complete Encyclopedia of U.S. and Colonial Coins (coin #841). Compares favorably to the Taylor, Perkins, and Ford examples, and it comes with a nice provenance. Weight 136.1 grains.
