Glossy medium steel brown with areas of reddish chocolate toning on the obverse. The planchet is mostly smooth and traces of mint frost show in some of the protected areas, especially on the reverse. Microscopic specks of verdigris can be found in the reddish brown areas on the obverse but it takes a good glass to find them. The notable defects are a planchet clip that touches the first C in CONNEC, a chip out of the rim above the forehead, a small chip on the shield and another near the rim behind the head of the seated figure. Softly struck on the upper half of the seated figure. The bottom of the date is off the planchet but the rest is bold and the legends are strong. Weight 131.6 grains.
