Glossy medium steel brown with lighter brown toning in the fields and protected areas on the reverse. The central details on the obverse are weaker, as always in the later die state, due to swelling in that area (sinking on the obverse die). The peripheral details on the obverse are strong as are all the details on the reverse. The surfaces are smooth and there are no contact marks, but planchet voids on both sides do affect the eye appeal of this otherwise choice early copper. The date is especially bold. A very attractive if imperfect example of this tough variety. Weight 144.0 grains.

Ex Chris Young.
