Mostly glossy light to medium brown blending to light chocolate in protected areas on the obverse. The surfaces are mostly smooth but there are tiny planchet chips scattered over both sides, the only notable one being a small flake high on the cheek. A very attractive piece, nicely centered and well struck. The bottom of the 1 in the date is off the planchet but everything else is complete and strong. A condition census example, arguably comparable to the Ford piece that was called “the finest seen.” Weight 141.8 grains.

Ex 1975 EAC Sale, Pine Tree Auctions 2/15/1975:241-Richard Picker-Stack’s 5/10/2000:52.
